Marseille 2013    Small, unexperienced team disappoints

From the four basketted pigeons - all first year olds - only a son of Lichte 13 - was a prize winner. It was the second week in a row that a first marked pigeon got lost. This time a direct Wijnands and son, that three weeks earlier still achieved a 30th prov from Agen.

St. Vincent  2013 : great overall result but ... loss of Kama369

Strong head wind and hot temperatures. Some fanciers considered this St Vincent as hard as Barcelona the week before.
Once more top rankings for Pipo II (13th prov) and Obelix (26th prov) - see earlier Pau 2013. Third pigeon was Late 100 ( 100/11), a September youngster from 2011 and direct son to Gorbi and Nora (= granddaughter Blauwe Brouwers, Wijnands Maastricht). He was good for a 35th prov against 532 birds. Next was De Rik (074/11), son to Rina ( = daughter Kleine Vale, Wijnands Maastricht). He raced a 50th prov.  Late 100 and De Rik were earlier this season my first two birds from Limoges, also contested with a serious head wind. Further on there were prize rankings for sons to Poetin, Kleine 100 and Socrates.
13 pigeons were basketted. Internationally against 10.907 birds : 434, 776, 889, 1150, 1682 and 1932.

Lost from this race was first marked Kama 369 (369/09).Over the seasons 2010, 2011 and 2012, he was my most steadfast pigeon and regularly my first arrival.

Kama 369 was a pure brother Obelix. (both sons to Blauwe Harrie and Ada, grandsons to Gorbi).

Because of the hard season and the loss of Tolstoi and Kama369 in two weeks, I decided that Pipo II, Obelix and De Rik will be stopped for the rest of the season and that they will not contest Perpignan, as was planned in winter. The same applies to my first pigeon from Barcelona, Spinoza.

Great result from a really hard and difficult Barcelona. While on Monday evening 75% of all pigeons were still missing, here the third out of four basketted birds was clocked on Saturday evening about 18.00.
First arrival was for Spinoza (389/09). He's a direct son to Gorbi. His arrival at 14.37 was good for a 55th prov (1854b). Second was Black Knight (161/10) at 14.57, a 71st prov. He's a grandson Gorbi. For both birds it was their first Barcelona participation. Finally, at 18.03 Il Loco (345/07) was clocked, still good for a 158th prov. Il Loco is a pure Cor de Heyde. He only once before participated in the Barcelona race, he was then a first year old and classified as well.
International result : 25.294b. : 673, 814, 2007  (3/4)
At this race Tolstoi (371/07), also a direct Gorbi son, got lost.
